A LITTLE BIT ABOUT "HAPPI JOHNSON"
Happi Johnson (real name "Sally") is a lady who has recently reentered the world of comedy after a 20+ year hiatus.
Initially, Sally was an award-winning writer who wrote for television, radio and comedy shows and performers. She had a successful career in the broadcasting business as a comedy writer and performer for top radio and television shows around the country.
In the 1970's. Sally was cast as the only female member of a highly-popular cult television phenomenon, "The Oasis Theater" in South Florida. This locally produced television show was rated the #1 show for its time slot in that market. Her work, as a writer and performer, was fast becoming a hot commodity! The show led to her being contacted by, and writing for, some well-known performers and shows.
In the 1980's, Sally joined forces with another funny man in Florida named Dick, and together they formed the comedy team of "Fun with Dick and Sally". Dick and Sally toured the country, entertaining throngs of people with their offbeat brand of humor that featured parodies, audience participation, audio and visual effects and, oh? Did I say hilarious characters and bits? Always striving to offer audiences something "different" than what they usually see at comedy clubs and venues, Dick and Sally were immediate favorites of clubs and audiences and won several comedy competitions including "Funniest Person(s) in Florida".
In 1990, Sally's parents passed away in Memphis, TN., thus precipitating a move for her to Tennessee. But alas, the distance proved too far to maintain the comedy act, and "Fun with Dick and Sally" sadly came to a close.
Sally decided to see what it would be like to take a "normal" job, so she became a Licensed Private Investigator. She was "too stupid" (her own words) to realize how dangerous the work was that she was doing, and thus became a really good detective by fault. But eventually, after several harrowing encounters, she gave up that line of work and started working with a more gentle crowd - senior citizens. She became a Director of Activities and Entertainment at large, independent living retirement communities. Soon, the realization that she too, was getting old, Sally decided to make due of her time and pursue her passion of entertaining and making people
laugh.
In 2003, Sally was featured in a television documentary entitled, "SEX-FEMALE", which aired nationally on THE OXYGEN CHANNEL. Even though the subject of the show was a serious look at the concept of "sex" from a woman's point of view, Sally's time on camera served more as "comic relief" wth Sally's rather twisted and unorthodox views on the subject.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT HAPPI
Happi has found a new calling to add to her resume' - Motion Pictures!
In 2011, she appeared in a short film entitled, "WHO'S THE DUDE?". In the film, Happi portrays herself as a comedienne/emcee. Not only was she featured in the film, she also wrote the film's title song. You can give a listen to it at the following website:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4r581-gDiE
Happi appeared in a few other films and videos in 2011, but perhaps her biggest motion picture to date, was one written and directed by HARMONY KORINE, which starred VAL KILMER, entitled "LOTUS COMMUNITY CENTER". In this yet-to-be-released movie, Happi is featured in a personal, speaking scene with Mr. Kilmer, where he affectionally gives her a nice hug and kiss on her cheek, as well as a solo, on-camera close-up with dialogue. Happi, will happi-ly tell you that she can't remember a word Val Kilmer said to her, and what she said to him in their scene, because, as she puts it, "I was "just kissed by Batman!"
In other motion picture news.....
Happi was recently cast in a major motion picture that is scheduled for production in the fall of 2012. Hers will be a featured role in the film, which also boast a cast of several Hollywood motion picture icons and celebrities. Needless to say, she is looking forward to that experience!
In the meantime, Sally is back doing comedy as "Happi Johnson". You never know what to expect from Happi, except
offbeat humor and hopefully, some chuckles. And that, my friends, is what makes
her "Happi".
